Marine Corps Marathon Training - June 27

Wow! The heat and humidity came on with a fury in the last couple of days here in the Mid-Atlantic. The temperature has been in the 90's with humidity just as high. Monday was a rest day after the long run of 14 miles on Sunday. I'm still paying for that run.

I've got several listings in escrow, one that was supposed to settle today, but didn't. The lender sent me an email Monday saying settlement might be delayed for a couple of days. What??? The contract was ratified the end of April. He told me we had underwriter approval with conditions the beginning of June. At that time, the approval conditions were normal; clear title, last pay stub, proof of insurance, etc... No big deal, right? Wrong. Ugh. Looks like we'll close Friday. I digress...

I usually run right after my kids get on the school bus. Usually somewhere around 9-9:30am. With school out now, it's after I get my kids off to camp or whatever the summer activity du jour. But, with all the stuff going on this week, I wasn't to hit the pavement until noon. Boy, it was hot.

Both Tuesday and Wednesday I didn't get any further than 3 miles and had to quit. It's amazing what the heat and the humidity will do to your stamina. I was supposed to run for 55 minutes both days. I guess I could have walked, but it was just to hot. I'm following Jeff Galloway's training, his training allows walking and  encourages it to reach your goal. Anyone know about his "magic mile"?

Tomorrow is another hot one. Forecast is temps in the 90's. Hopefully, I can get out there earlier. I really need to get some mileage in.
